Ordinary Miracles

It's been awhile since I posted an Ordinary Miracles post (you could click here and/or  here to see a couple other ordinary miracle posts)

So here are a few:

A brother and sister who get along (at least at this particular moment in time ( ; ).

A smiley little girl who is not so smiley, but will be going to see the doctor tomorrow and will most likely be given a prescription for an antibiotic ~ that is an ordinary miracle for which I am VERY thankful.

A nest.  Which weeks ago only contained eggs.

And today, tiny baby birds.

All of these things are:

Amazing.
Beautiful.
Ordinary.

The everyday things that we don't always stop to see, to acknowledge and to be thankful for.

Today I wish you a day of Ordinary Miracles.

Friday Funny ~ opposites

The last day of school.

One thinks it's fall.

One thinks it's summer.

They both know it's the last day walking to the bus stop
as a kindergartner and 3rd grader.

Have a great weekend!

Embracing the Camera

Last night at Sassy's Softballs game
A 6 year old Photographer.
A 20 month old who didn't really want to sit.

And in true embracing the camera day

THIS MORNING

WITH Smiley
AFTER a very long night filled with:
tossing
turning
cuddling
coughing
and a extremely runny nose

Don't forget to embrace the camera and cherish every moment!

Peace.

Relaxing.
With a book in one hand.
A fishing pole in the other.

Immersed in the quiet and beauty that surrounds.

Where do you find peace?

Rhubarb Dessert

It is rhubarb season, so I bring you a simple, yummy recipe that I "stole" from my MIL a few years ago (no, she's really nice and gave it to me ☺) .

Ingredients:
2 cups diced rhubarb
1 ¼ cups sugar ~ separated
1 egg
¼ cup cooking oil
¼ cup milk
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt

Directions:

1.  Place diced rhubarb in a greased 9x9" or 8x10" baking dish.  (I didn't have either so I used an 8x8" pan ~  it seemed to work just fine.  The topping was maybe a little thicker than normal, but that's how my hubby likes it anyway, so it was a success!)
Then,  sprinkle with ½ Cup of the sugar.

2.  In a bowl, combine egg, remaining ¾ cup of sugar, oil, milk, flour, baking powder and salt.  Stir and pour
or spoon over the rhubarb.  The batter does spread as it bakes.

3.  Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.

4. Serve warm with ice cream.

YUMMY!

And what a coincidence that Jen Juniper did a tutorial using a rhubarb leaf.  Now we can all craft and eat !  Be sure to check out more great ideas here:

Embracing the camera ~ and Vacation

Smiley
being
Not so smiley
as we speed down the river in our boat

(yep, notice the strategically placed napkin being used as a drool catcher

If you read my last post, you already know that we left our technology at home, hitched up our boat (maybe I didn't mention that part) and drove about 400 miles (800 round trip) to get away and meet up with some other family members.

We mostly fished.
and while we waited to hook the big one:
♦ Some of us read (me).
♦ Some of us cried (Smiley wasn't not loving the boat.  I think it was a combination of being enclosed ~ she is kind of a free spirit ~ and having to wear a life jacket, I understand that it is not the most comfortable, but no exceptions!)
♦ Some of us played with our DS (Sassy)

When we weren't fishing, we were:
Relaxing
Eating
Swimming
Playing
and
Enjoying our family.

We also found some time to golf.  Except someone forgot to pack my golf clubs.
My left handed ones.
Everyone else is right handed.
Hmmm.....

Oh well,
Turned out I didn't need them.
Smiley ended up with a temp of 103 and only wanted her mama (yep, the one without golf clubs) and to sleep.

But the rest of the family golfed.
and I sat on the porch at Grandpa and Grandma's house and watched while I held and snuggled my baby.

We had a great time.
Now, to catch up on e-mails and laundry!
