Something to Think About Sunday

I have been blessed with many special people in my life. Most of them influence me in one way or another. Sometimes positively, sometimes negatively.

There is one person who I have had the pleasure of meeting within the last year, who has influenced me tremendously.

I will admit, when I first met him, I did not care for him much. Honestly, some of the things he did drove me crazy. And now that he has moved away and I no longer see him, I miss his presence, his words, and our conversations. I am left to think of the impact he had on my life and in such a short period of time.

Being in his presence made me think about and question my life and my religion. He made me want to be a better person, wife, mother and christian.

I doubt he even knows the impact he has made.

I only pray I can take what he gave me during these few months and give it to others.

You don't have to be a 'person of influence' to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they've taught me.

Hot Stuff

Someone at our house thinks they are hot stuff!

Just look at this big girl sitting up to the table with her sister and brother!

And if you are wondering, this is the recipe I posted last week
(find it again here),
and actually all 3 kids like it.

But all I can really say is ~ she is growing up WAY TOO FAST!

It's not what you think.

No really, its not about the taste of these (although they are tasty):

Nor is it about the ingredients that go it making these, yummy, soft, sugar cookies.

Nor is it about how I decorated them... partly, because I was too lazy to decorated them. I just smeared some frosting on them. They were so pretty that I unfortunately fortunately forgot to take pictures of the final product.

This post is however about these:

Created by:

Have you heard of her?

What are they you ask?

They are:

DOUGH PLANERS!

What? You ask.

Dough Planers?

They go on here, like this:

You know so when you are rolling out your sugar cookie dough, pie crust or what ever you are rolling out, it all comes out even! This is fabulous for when I'm my 5 year old is rolling out the dough and it ends up all uneven. The cookies don't come out all lopsided and misshapen. It is fabulous!

So today, this is my "good thing".

Happy Rolling!

Easy Fall Decor

I was out for a walk the other day with the kids and we came across some branches laying on the sidewalk.

I thought I would be helpful and pick a couple of them up and bring them home. I did have an idea as to what I wanted to do with at least one of them.

So we carried the branches home.

Upon arriving at home, I was greeted by my darling husband with a skeptical eye. But, I was not to be discouraged.

I stuck them in the garage and forgot about them for a week. Umm, well not really, since I saw them sitting there right in front of me every time I drove in and out of the garage. Anyway, I finally figured out what to do.

I grabbed a vase I had sitting around.

Some artificial leaves ~ I believe this use to be a garland ~ part of our wedding decorations (10 years ago), but I haven't used them since (at least I don't think I have...)

After some trimming

 and some sliding on,

This is what I ended up with:

EASY and INEXPENSIVE ~ especially now, since just about all fall merchandise is on clearance! What do you think?

Oh, and check this out from Restoration Hardware.  This is the real reason I picked up the branches in the first place and now, I am patiently waiting to do this once I start decorating for Christmas!

And don't forget to go here to be inspired:

Over the Top

I have to admit, today as I was checking in with my favorite blogs and reading comments left on my blog, I got a little excited. Why you ask? Because I was honored with this award:

From The Treat Girl. No, I don't know her, except through comments back and forth, stories, words, and pictures on her blog. Check her out ~ I dare you! She is a mom like me, with 3 kids as well. She is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, like.... well, you get the idea. Unfortunately, she likes the Yankees (like some of my other friends.... yes, you know who I'm talking to...), but I won't hold that against her, because she seems too fabulous otherwise! Anyway, thank you Miss Treat Girl ~ you have made me smile today!

Now, onto the business of accepting this award.

They told me I would forget...

I haven't. And it's been 2 years.

I remember everything.

How I knew.

What I ate for supper that night.

Who I called.

The fear I felt.

The sadness I felt.

The questions I asked.

Why?

The Wait. The end.

Just know Little Angel...
You are NOT forgotten.
