Tutu's for my 2 little witches!

I know I've done a tutu tutorial in the past, but I had to do another, because I just love how these tutu's turned out.

Click here to see the actual details on making them, but basically you need tulle and elastic.

Measure the elastic for your little one's waist and stitch the ends together.

Measure the length you want your skirt, then cut your tulle into strips ~ about 5-6" wide and double your desired length.

Slip the waistband around your thigh or other object and begin tying (so they are in half equally on the waistband) the tulle strips on. Do this all the way around and TA~DA! A cute little tutu!

Come back after
halloween to see the full witch outfits!

Tutu cute!

I first posted about these here and I know promised you all I would tell you how to make them! Well, wait no longer! Here you go! And be sure to send me pictures of your finished products!

It seems that tutus for little girls are everywhere these days:

They are here at Nordstroms and here at Gymboree:

And here at Old Navy:

Some of them are expensive and some are not.

But why not save some money, and make your own?

BELIEVE ME,

THEY ARE EASY TO MAKE!

Supplies:

Tulle ~ whatever color/colors you want ~ about 3 yards (however, if making for an older child you may need/want more)

Elastic about 2" wide ~ length is determined by child's waist size.

Thread and needle or sewing machine

Directions:

Cut the Elastic the correct length (once again, determined by the waist of the child) and sew the ends together using your sewing machine, or thread and needle.

Cut the tulle into strips ~ 4-6" wide , The length of each strip will be determined by how tall the child is and how short long you want the tutu. Once you determine the length you want DOUBLE IT! For Smiley, I made my strips about 6x20.

Now the hard part ~ slip the elastic over your leg and begin to tie the tulle onto the elastic. Here's what I found to work best: Tie with a double knot, but don't make them too tight as you don't want to make the elastic bunch and fold. And make sure you place your knot at the base of the elastic, doing so will make the tulle lay nicer.

Voila ~ That's it! If you want to be fancy you can doll it up by hot gluing some flowers or bows to the front. I have flowers, but was too excited to put it on my little Smiley that I just skipped that part I'm not fancy so I didn't do that.

Not Me Monday

Well, I thought I would attempt another NOT Me Monday post (Mckmama's idea). Like this one before, this is a post of all the things I definitely DID NOT do or have happen. Once again, I would love for you to play along with me and let me know the things that you HAVE NOT done or have not had happen to you lately. Click on the comment button at the end of the post and leave your "not me's".

Let's begin....

Last week while we were unloading the car for a day at the pool, Action did not shout "Mommy you hit that car!" in the very full, very busy parking lot. I did not get completely embarrassed and raise my voice at him as people looked on. I did not say "Action, what are you talking about, I did not hit a car!" His reply certainly was not, "yes you did." I did not then at that moment give him my mad face. He did not look at me and state, "well I was just kidding." At least not loud enough for the whole parking lot to hear.

I did not allow Smiley to tear up and proceed to eat a phone book the other day while I was writing a blog post. Nope not me.

And yesterday while: Action was sick with a high fever, Sassy played with a friend, Smiley took a nap, my Hubby watched Tiger lose the PGA, I did not hover over my sewing machine and make pacifier clips, key chains, and a tutu for Smiley (details on these projects to come). Because that would mean, my house is a mess, the kitchen is dirty and supper was not well thought out. It was NOT ME!

And lastly, It is most definitely NOT Me who is turning a year older today. Nope not me, I do not age.
On that note, I am signing off to play and relax today!
