December

The house was decorated.

School programs were performed.

Goodies were baked.

Gifts were created.

Presents were wrapped.

Family was visited.

Santa was here.

Lazy pajama days were welcomed.

The sledding hill was sled upon.

The movie theatre was visited.

Friends celebrated together.

Games were played.

School break ended.

And so friends, this was our December.  I thought about blogging so many times ~ and even started a few posts.  Unfortunately, that is as far as I got.  I had intentions of showing you our home all decorated for Christmas.  Giving you recipes for some of the many goodies we made.  Telling you all about the gifts I made (I made one thing for each person in our family this year).  But December slipped by without a word from me.

Anyway, let me show you some of what went on:

The new year brought on a ugly sweater celebration with friends ~ Come back tomorrow for that fun!  Also to come, I will show you the gifts I made for the kids.  And hopefully become a more consistent blogger again.

Stay warm friends.  Our governor cancelled school statewide for tomorrow due to the cold temps (we are looking at a high of -15 with wind chill temps at -55), so we will be having another lazy day staying warm at home!

Snow Day

In the 13 years my husband and I have lived in this state, there have only been 3 snow days.  And that number includes yesterdays.  I skipped my 5am workout so Hubby could get on his way to work earlier than normal, before traffic became completely insane.  His typical 20 minute drive took 35 mins.  Not too bad considering if he would have left at his typical time, he would have been in the car for at least 1 hour.  Anyway, Hubby left at about 5:50.  The phone rang at 6.  "This is *****, superintendent with ***** district # ****.  Classes have been cancelled today............"  I instantly knew the kids would be super excited.  When I heard Sassy turn the shower on at 6:40 I bolted to her bathroom and yelled through the door "NO SCHOOL"  The squeal and "happy dance" she broke into made my day :)

Well, snow day means snow so while the Sassy and Action played with neighborhood friends, Smiley and I got to work.  We piled on the snow gear:

After shoveling the front entry, a strip from the entry down the driveway and half of the front sidewalk, we figured "Daddy" could just use the snow blower when he got home from work, and decided it was time to play, be goofy....

Friday Funny

Hello Friday!  Couple of things ~
First off, the kids have the day off from school today so we all decided to sleep in.  When I woke up at 8:00 this was what our indoor/outdoor thermometer read:

YIKES!!!  Great day to stay inside!  Except that Smiley has to go to gymnastics in an hour and birthday presents need to be purchased for parties this weekend.......

Anyway, this video was floating around Facebook and I found it fitting for this friday's smile, since this Sunday is Superbowl Sunday.  I laughed watching it and my kids watched it over and over, so I hope it brings a smile to your face on this lovely Friday!

Friday Funny

I got up this morning to take my dog for our morning walk and saw this:

No, you are NOT imagining things.... it says -22.5  

(and it was/is warmer than 56.5 in my house ~ the thermometer is in a window)

We did NOT go for a walk.

My poor pup barely made it to the yard to relive herself. 

So while this is not funny, this did made me giggle a little bit (although, like me and the weather this morning, he maybe didn't see any humor in it):

Hubs has never had the week off between Christmas and New Years.

This year he did!

And while I was uncertain how it would all unfold (he's never had a week off ~ at least not one where NOTHING was planned).  It was WONDERFUL.

We slept in EVERY DAY
and
We did a lot of NOTHING.

Take a look:

Presents were opened and Sassy and Action received DSi's they were excited and played with them all week long.

Family and Friends were admired.

More sledding ~ Sassy and a couple friends found some waxed cardboard and decided to use that instead of sleds.  Goofballs!  Nothing like redneck sledding :)

Pheasant jerky was made. Lots of pheasant jerky and nope, not by me, by my hubby.

And, Hubby took the kids snow tubing ~ we had tried to go as a family  a couple days prior, but there was a 1 1/2 + hour long wait to get a tube.

We had plans to have friends over to ring in the New Year.  Unfortunately 20 mins before they were set to arrive Action threw up.  Phone calls were made and our get together was cancelled.  We spent the night relaxing as a family.  And yay,  Action felt better and there were no headaches in the morning :)

The kids received these kids as a Christmas gift and set out to create their masterpieces.

Someone just couldn't wait to dig in :) 

Hot Toddy's were made and football was watched.

Minnie, Minnie and friends were played with lots and lots!

And a new calendar was displayed

It was fabulous and I was a bit sad this morning when I was awaken by an ALARM clock.  Ugh.....

Now to get to work and put this guy away
