Not me Monday

Ah, its Monday, and you know what that means don't you?

Time for a few of the things I FOR SURE did not do. Because I am extremely organized and ALWAYS on top of things.....

I did not for example schedule a girls night out for the exact same night as Sassy's only 3rd grade concert. Yep, the one that she has a solo in. Nope, I would never forget about that.

And this morning, when I was squeezing in a quick e-mail check, I absolutely did not look at the clock on the computer, see 7:30 and think to myself hmmm, I have gotten a lot accomplished this morning in 35 mins. I had showered, fed the kids, finished the dishes and started laundry. I certainly didn't think "dang the kids don't have to be at the bus stop for another 50 minutes". And never, never would I then realize that that clock was one of the ones that never "sprung ahead". Of course we didn't miss the bus and I didn't have to drive them to school with 3 minutes to spare. Not me. Like I said, I am ORGANIZED!

So what haven't you done lately?

Can you imagine?

This weekend took us back in time....

We spent MANY hours in the car to visit family.

We took a trip back in time as well.

While we were there, we visited the site of Laura Ingall's family homestead in South Dakota. This is where she and her family lived much of their lives. Here she met her husband, Almanzo Wilder. After they were married, they moved on, but her parents and sisters remained (if not there, close by).

I grew up "watching"and adoring Laura. And now my daughter is reading the books and watching the Ingall's family on TV. It was a neat adventure to go on.

It made me long for the simple times ~ yet truly appreciate the conveniences of today.

A one room dugout home ~ can you imagine living here with your family?

Our ride to school at the one room school house.

Time for class ~ Pay Attention!

School is out ~ Time to ring the bell

We had fun. The kids rode on a horse, made rope, made corncob dolls, and enjoyed the open prairie. The saw the animals in the small hay roof barn and played with some baby kittens. And neither our children or their cousins could imagine living in the tiny house that Pa built.

Sure makes us thankful for the sacrifices and hard work they and all of the other early pioneers gave in order for us to have what we have today!
