Lakeside Vacation 2012

Every year we try to escape for a week (2009, man the kids were little, 2010, 2011).  Escape to a cabin on the lake.  Away from the hectic everyday life.  Time to relax and spend time together without interruption.  And this year's vacation was all of that.  No internet, limited cell phone use, one television channel, it was wonderful!

~ Here's a small glimpse of our week ~

the kids jumped right into vacation mode :)

we boated and swam every day
sandcastles were built and birds were chased
there was skiing and tubing..... lots of tubing

it was very relaxing

And now to get back into the swing of things......

Because I haven't

told you about or shared any pictures with you regarding our 4th of July I will today!

Ahh, a weekend at my hubby's Aunt and Uncle's cabin:

Lots of swimming, skiing, hydro biking, fishing, tubing and
jet skiing:

{ Let me just say, that the hydro bikes are fun, however not so fun when your rudder falls off into the lake, never to be seen again.  Thank you dear mother in law for helping to steer me back to the cabin and not just leaving me on the other side of the lake ☺}

Oh, and lets not forget about all the swinging that was done:

And, what would the 4th of July be without fireworks?

We had a great 4th and I hope you all did as well!

Snapshots of Summer

I don't know about you, but it feels like summer has been flying by!

Granted my kids have only been out of school since June 11 ~ really it's only  been 2 ½ weeks, but it feels like yesterday that they were celebrating that last day.

Anyway, our days and nights have been filled with softball, baseball, vacation bible school,  pool days, cabin and lake days and just plain fun at home.

Here is a snipit of our June:

I think all of us here are ready for more!

We decided TO... Then we decided NOT TO...

And then...

We decided TO.

And I am so glad we did!

We decided to unplug and spend a week away. Away from work, laundry, housework, the computer, cell phones.....

We rented a little cabin in the woods

On a lake

Where we spent time with...

EACH OTHER.

I think I just might be reliving this vacation all week ~ won't you come along?
