One Simple Word

I started writing this post about 3 weeks ago, at the beginning of January.  But, as we all know, life happens and a big 'ol cup of coffee was spilt on my laptop.  Just like that, the keyboard was out of commission.  Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to blame but myself.  My cup of coffee, my arm knocking it over onto my laptop.  My fault.  My frustration.  Anyway, luckily the hard drive wasn't affected, a trip to the Apple Store, more dollars than I wanted to fork over and computer is back in business.

Anyway, New Years Resolutions.
I know, I know, I'm over due....too bad :)

I've never really been one to make new years resolutions (here and here are some of my resolutions ~ sort of ).  But I do like to have goals and I always want to strive for something.  The last few years I've noticed the "word of the year" trend amongst many.  I like the idea of it.  Check these blogs out and read about the words they chose for this year:

Oh my Handmade Goodness (Organize)
Holy Craft (Intent)
Kimbo from a Girl and a Glue Gun (Balance)

Organize, intent, balance or how about simplify, breathe, joyful, loving, whole, and vibrant, etc.

Those are all good ones, but I was wanting more.  And I decided MORE was going to be my word of the year.  I mean, I want more patience, more energy, more focus, more understanding, more love, etc.

MORE

But, I don't want or need more stuff. I don't want more physical items in my life.  However, I do want more of the things that are intangible.  More of myself ~ everyday.  So I kept thinking, MORE just didn't feel right.

And then it hit me.

I want to BE more loving
I want to BE more patient
I want to BE more optimistic
I want to BE more forgiving
I want to BE more considerate
I want to BE a better wife
I want to BE a better mom
I want to BE a better friend
I want to BE more determined
I want to BE more prayerful

And the list can go on and on and on.  So you see, I don't want to change myself, I just want to BE more of who I already am.

So my word of the year:

Do you make resolutions or have a word of the year?  What are they?

Friday Funny Football edition

Are you football fans?

We are at our house, unfortunately our favorite team, the Steelers, are done for the season.

This edition of Friday Funny is football based, however it has nothing to do with deflategate ~ although, I could come up with many funny jabs on that subject (as have so many others!) but I will refrain.

This may be silly, but I have always been a fan of the Bad Lip Reading videos. I've previously posted a couple of them on my blog (here and here).  This week the newest NFL version came out.  Maybe you've seen it already.  It's been popping up on my Facebook news feed consistently for the last two days.  However, if you haven't and you need a laugh or if you have and you want to laugh again, I bring you the 2015 NFL Bad Lip Reading Video:

Today's post is brought to you by the number 11

Sorry, I was channeling my inner Sesame Street with the title!

I have a few blog posts started, that I've been meaning to finish and post.  The bad news is about 2 weeks ago, I spilt a cup of coffee all over the keyboard of my laptop.  The trackpad started responding erratically and the keys wouldn't respond at all.  More bad news, it cost money to get it fixed.  But the good news ~ I took it in, paid for a new keyboard and trackpad and finally have it back in fully functioning order!

However, I can't post the blogs I have ready for you because this guy:

is turning 11 today!

Happy Happy Birthday Action!

He is funny, sentimental, caring, easily frustrated yet pretty laid back.

A few things he is currently loving:

- minecraft on the playstation, iPod and in lego form
- his iPod in general
-baseball (too cold to play outside, but dome ball still works!)
-volleyball (he just started playing for fun, with a group of friends once a week ~ for now.
It keeps him busy and active and he gets to hang out with his friends!)
- DC's, he really wants a pair of new high tops

So happy 11th birthday to this guy

His hair can go (he won't let us cut because he tells us, he's "growing" it out for the winter and it drives me CRAZY!) but his smile and those dimples and his contagious laugh get me every time!
