Snapshots of Summer

I don't know about you, but it feels like summer has been flying by!

Granted my kids have only been out of school since June 11 ~ really it's only  been 2 ½ weeks, but it feels like yesterday that they were celebrating that last day.

Anyway, our days and nights have been filled with softball, baseball, vacation bible school,  pool days, cabin and lake days and just plain fun at home.

Here is a snipit of our June:

I think all of us here are ready for more!

Perfectly Delicious Dip

If you ask me this is a perfect summer dip (hence the title).

Perfect because it is delicious (remember the title?)

You need:

1 can of black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can of white shoe peg corn, drained
1 can of diced tomatoes  seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano
1 can of Rotel tomatoes
8 oz of Zesty Italian Dressing (not the creamy kind)
chopped onion to taste

Dump all ingredients together (it makes about 7 cups).

Let the flavors meld for at least 1 1/2 hours in the fridge.

Set out with chips (we use tortilla scoops because they are perfect for holding lots of this yummy goodness)

Watch it disappear!

Something to think about Sunday ~ 90/10

Summer is in full swing.

The kids are full of energy.

Sometimes good.

Sometimes bad.

Either way, this e-mail I received awhile ago pops into my head whenever I feel stressed or on edge.

What  a BEAUTIFUL theory!

It's kind of long, but I hope you will take the time to read through it.

Can you imagine how different your life and the lives of others would be if we just thought a second longer before we reacted to a situation?

Have an AMAZING Sunday!

Still here ~ sort of

I feel like I've been absent.

I sort of have.

I have been volunteering at Vacation Bible School every day.

Running every morning.

Softball and baseball at night.

A list of projects to do ~ some that have been started and postponed because of humidity and rain.  Maybe I'll get one finished today.

I'm tired.

Very. Very. itchy!

The doc. calls this problem of mine hives (I will spare you pictures, but they are NOT pretty).

I call it ANNOYING!

But I'm still smiling ~ and trying not to itch and trying to squeeze in some blogging time before I finally crash at night.  It's not working very well, but I'm trying!

Alrighty ~ off to spray paint one....last....coat........... before Smiley wakes up and we have to take our pup to the vet.

Happy Tuesday!

Friday Funny ~ The things they say.

Sassy had a friend over the other day.

We were sitting at the table eating lunch and she ( L ~ Sassy's friend) says as serious as could be:

"I had a staring contest with my stuffed animals the other day."

Me: "Really?"

L (once again very serious):  And I TOTALLY lost.

Me:  {Processing.................}

Then we ALL burst out laughing ~ L included.

Maybe you had to be there, but it was SO funny!

Happy friday!

Time to Embrace

Nothing like reading to my baby.

Hubby just got back last night from a 3 day business trip (I know, not that long, but long enough).

In the mean time:

Smiley was diagnosed with a double ear infection was given a prescription and is FINALLY back to sleeping comfortably through the night.  Yay! No more couch sleeping for me!

Sassy had a softball game on Monday night.  It's coach pitch and coach (ie. hubby/daddy) was busy eating crab in Maryland.  So we had their coach from last year pitch for us.  They played REALLY well, but ended up  losing 11-8.  Personally, I thought it was good competition for the girls since their last two games were easily won with the final scores being 24-0 and 18-0.  (Although, it could be because their coach was gone ( ;  )

Sassy had a tooth filling fall out, along with some of her tooth.  And a big thanks to DR. DAN for fixing her right up yesterday.

It's been rainy.  I've missed the sun.  But it finally came out yesterday!  Along with this:

Which leads me to this morning:

I see this as I look out the window:

and I kind of feel the same way.

a little on the foggy, unorganized side.

So maybe after a killer spin class in about an hour, like the weather forcast for today the sun will come through and it will be a fabulous day!

Come back  tomorrow as I embrace the camera!
