Friday Funny

A woman went to the emergency room,

where she was seen by a young new doctor.

After about 3 minutes in the examination room, the doctor told her she was pregnant.

She burst out of the room and ran down the corridor screaming.

An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was.

After listening to her story, he calmed her down and sat her in another room.

Then, the doctor marched down the hallway to the first doctor's room.

"What the heck's wrong with you?" he demanded.

"This woman is 68 years old.  She has two grown children and several grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant???!!!"

The new doctor continued to write on his clipboard, and without looking up asked...

"Does she still have the hiccups?

Science

Action is learning about different aquarium animals at school.

They had to draw a picture of and label each animal.

Here's what he did.

Keep in mind that he is six.

He doesn't like to color

and

He REALLY doesn't like to write.

READY?

His goldfish:

A crayfish:

Yep, it's a tadpole....
(remember he's only 6)

And his aquarium:

Fabulous job, if you ask me!

Chopped Vegetable and Bean Salad

In my opinion a perfect, fresh spring or summer salad.
You can either eat this as a main dish salad or as a side dish.

CHOPPED VEGETABLE AND BEAN SALAD
from: experiencelifemag.com

Dressing:

Whisk together,
3 Tbs. red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
3 Tbs. olive oil

Salad:
1 large head romaine, chopped
1/2 cup peeled and diced cucumber
1/2 cup diced red pepper
1/4 cup diced yellow pepper
1/4 cup peeled and diced carrots
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/4 cup diced black olives
3/4 tsp chopped fresh oregano
2 tsp chopped fresh basil
3/4 cup diced tomato
3/4 cup (cooked ~ not dried) white beans
1/2 cup cooked garbanzo beans

In a large bowl, combine salad ingredients.

Add salad dressing and toss lightly.

*** When I make it, I don't really measure out the salad ingredients. I usually use 1 can of navy beans and 1 can of garbanzo beans instead of the 3/4 cup and 1/2 cup the recipe says.  I also used grape tomatoes and either cut them in half or leave them whole.

ENJOY!

Here's where the parties are:

DIY Day @ ASPTL

A Weekend

of Ordinary Miracles.

Friends...
We hosted a potluck for Sassy's softball team.  Ah, the sound of adult conversation and children running around giggling, dodging the raindrops, squealing and  just having fun.  Music to my ears.

Rain....
Waking up Saturday morning to the sound of thunder and the gentle pitter patter of the rain hitting my window.

And yes, the Skid Row song just popped into my head....

Woke up to the sound of pouring rain.
The wind would whisper and I'd think of you
And all the tears you cried that called my name
And when you need me I came through

Oh my... Loved Sebastian Bach back in the day (he hasn't aged real well)

Wow, that was a rewind to 8th grade.  YIKES!

Anyway....

A lazy Saturday, a little shopping with my 2 girls, and then a baptism.
BEAUTIFUL.

Reception at our friends home and then, a sick little Sassy.  Bummer.
Darn stomach bugs.

Sunday.
Church.
A mommy "date" for donuts with Action and a relaxing day for me.  Yep, while my hubby ripped out flooring ☺!  More on that at a later date!

A fabulous... mostly picture free weekend of friends, mother nature, and rest ~ ORDINARY MIRACLES.

Bird bath #2

Last year we made a bird bath using a grapevine wreath, terracotta saucer, some greenery and a bit of rope (check it out and all of the "details" here).

However, someone forgot to bring that darn thing in for the winter and:

Yep, Crack happened.
(don't tell anyone, but I tried to fill it with water ~ yes, I knew the crack existed ~ but it didn't hold)

So Action and I set out to do some repairing and replacing.

We used a little spray paint and brought the wreath back to life.

We purchased a new saucer.

Spray painted the outside of it... why?

I don't know either, you can't even see it!

Painted a little blue edge and filled 'er up with water.

Birdies come, relax and get clean.

and just because,
it seems someone else likes spray paint as much as her mom ☺:

This week, I'm partying here:

and

DIY Day @ ASPTL

So don't forget to swing by for some fun!

Not Me Monday ~ Child Edition....

MckMama from My Charming Kids usually does a "Not Me" Monday post.  Today, I needed to do a "Not My Child" version.

Ready?

Smiley did not get hungry and eat this lovely little creature.....

Action DID NOT dress up Zoie, our poor little dog as a Steeler Football Player.....

AND

Last but not least, one of my darling children did NOT eat all of the grapes and leave the empty container in the fridge.  Not sure who you were, but Smiley you are off the hook, since you can't yet open the fridge by yourself........

Hmmm,
Play along, what didn't you or your kids do this week?
